Isaiah

Isaiah 6 ©

1 Isaiah's vision of the Lord in his glory: 5 he is terrified; an angel removeth the ground of his apprehensions: 8 he offereth himself, and is sent to shew the obstinacy of the people unto their destruction. 13 A remnant shall be saved.

1

IN athe year that king Uzziah died I bsaw also the cLord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and 1his train filled the temple.

2

Above it dstood ethe seraphims: each one had six fwings; with *twain he covered his gface, and with twain he covered his hfeet, and with twain he did ifly.

3

And 2one jcried unto another, and said, kHoly, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: l3the whole earth is full of his glory.

4

And the posts of the 4door mmoved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with nsmoke.

5

¶Then said I, oWoe is me! for I am 5undone; because I am a man of punclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the qKing, the LORD of hosts.

6

Then rflew one of the seraphims unto me, 6having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off sthe altar:

7

And the 7laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

8

Also I heard the voice of uthe Lord, saying, vWhom shall I send, and who will go for wus? xThen said I, Here am I; 8send me.

9

¶And he said, Go, and tell ythis people, zHear ye 9indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

10

aMake the heart of this people bfat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be chealed.

11

Then said I, Lord, dhow long? And he answered, eUntil the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be 10utterly desolate,

12

And the LORD fhave removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

13

¶But gyet in it shall be a tenth, 11and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a *teil tree, and as an oak, whose 12substance is in them, when they cast their leaves : so hthe holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
