1 Timothy 2 ©

1 Paul exhorteth to pray and give thanks for all men, for kings and magistrates especially. 4 God willeth the salvation of all men. 7 Paul's commission to teach the Gentiles. 8 He directeth how women should be attired; 11 permitteth them not to teach; 15 but promiseth that they shall be saved in childbearing on certain conditions.

1

I 1EXHORT therefore, that, first of all, asupplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2

For kings, and for all that are in 2authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life bin all godliness and honesty.

3

cFor this is good and acceptable in the sight of dGod our Saviour;

4

eWho will have all men to be saved, and fto come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5

For there is gone God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6

hWho gave himself a ransom for all, 3to be testified in idue time.

7

jWhereunto I am ordained a preacher, and kan apostle, l(I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

8

I will therefore that mmen pray every where, nlifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

9

In like *manner also, that owomen adorn themselves in modest *apparel, with *shamefacedness and sobriety; not with 4broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10

pBut (which becometh women professing godliness) with qgood works.

11

rLet the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13

sFor Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14

tAnd Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15

uNotwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and *charity and holiness with sobriety.
