Amos 7 ©
The judgment of the grasshoppers, and of the fire, are diverted by the intercession of Amos. By a wall and plumbline is signified the desolation of Israel. Amaziah complaineth of Amos, and forbiddeth him to prophesy at Beth-el. Amos sheweth his calling, and the judgment upon Amaziah.
Then hsaid I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: 3by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
¶Then Amaziah othe priest of Beth-el sent to pJeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos qhath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
For rthus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: wfor it is the king's 4chapel, and it is the 5king's court.
Therefore thus saith the LORD; cThy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and dthy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a epolluted land: and Israel fshall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
