Psalm 89 ©
1 The Psalmist praiseth God for his covenanted mercies to David: 5 for his mighty power, and moral perfections: 15 for his care of his people: 19 for his promised favour to the kingdom of David: 38 then complaining of contrary events, 46 he expostulateth, prayeth, and in the end blesseth God.
I ehave made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto fDavid my servant,
Thy gseed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.
Thou ohast broken 3Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies 4with thy strong arm.
Thou hast 5a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
For athou art the glory of their strength: and bin thy favour our *horn shall be exalted.
cFor 7the LORD is our defence; and dthe Holy One of Israel is our king.
The jenemy shall not exact upon him; knor the son of wickedness afflict him.
If uhis children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
If they 8break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
Nevertheless wmy lovingkindness 9will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness 10to fail.
iAll that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his neighbours.
Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.
Thou jhast made his 12glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.
