1 Peter

1 Peter 5 ©

1 The elders are exhorted to feed the flock of Christ conscientiously, looking to the chief Shepherd for a reward. 5 The younger are required to submit to the elder, and all to practise humility toward each other; 6 with resignation to God; 8 to be sober, watchful, and stedfast in the faith, resisting the devil. 10 The epistle is concluded with a prayer and benediction.

1

THE aelders which are among you I exhort, who am balso an elder, and a cwitness of the sufferings of Christ, and also da partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

b 2Jn. 1.
2

eFeed the flock of God 1which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; fnot for filthy *lucre, but of a ready mind;

3

gNeither as 2being lords over hGod 's heritage, ibut being ensamples to the flock.

4

And when the jchief Shepherd kshall appear, ye shall receive la crown of glory that fadeth not away.

5

Likewise, mye younger, submit yourselves unto nthe elder. Yea, all of you obe subject one to another, and be clothed with phumility: for qGod resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

p Ep. 4.2.
6

rHumble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7

sCasting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8

tBe sober, be vigilant; because uyour adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9

vWhom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that wthe same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10

But the xGod of all grace, ywho hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, zafter that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11

aTo him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12

By bSilvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as cI suppose, I have written dbriefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the etrue grace of God wherein ye stand.

13

The church that is at fBabylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth gMarcus my son.

14

hGreet ye one another with a kiss of *charity. iPeace be with you all that are jin Christ Jesus. Amen.
