JONAH

Jonah 2 ©

Jonah’s prayer, v. 1. etc. The fish, at God’s command, spews out Jonah on shore, 10.

1

THEN Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

2

And 1said, Ia2cried 3by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the 4belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

3

For 5thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the 6midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billowsb and thy waves passed over me.

4

Then I 7said, I am 8cast out of thy sight; yet I will 9look again toward thy holy 10temple.

5

The waters compassed me about, even to the 11soul: the depth closed me round about, the 12weeds were wrapped about my head.

6

I went down to the 13bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her 14bars was about me 15for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from 16corruption, O LORD my God.

7

When my soul 17fainted within me I 18remembered the LORD: and my prayer 19came in unto thee, into thine holy 20temple.

8

They that observe 21lying vanities 22forsake their own mercy.

9

But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice ofc23thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have 24vowed. 25Salvationdis of the LORD.

10

¶And the LORD 26spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the 27dry land.
