MICAH

The prophet Micah (or Micheas) prophesied about the same time, and in substance the very same things, yea, sometimes in the same words with the prophet Isaiah, as appears by the first verses of both their books, and the contents of their prophecies. For Micah, partly, most vehemently reproves the gross and manifold sins of Judah and Israel, as may be seen by the contents of the chapters, threatening them both with God’s heavy judgments, especially their desolation by the Assyrians and Babylonians. And partly he also comforts the faithful with promise of their deliverance out of the Babylonian captivity, but principally with very clear and glorious prophecies of their spiritual deliverance by their King CHRIST, of Whose coming, place of nativity Bethlehem, abundant blessings and benefits to His church, (which would be gathered through the powerful operation of the Holy Spirit and by the preaching of the Gospel out of Jews and Gentiles) this prophet largely foretells, assuring us of the undoubted and everlasting salvation of the church, and of the final and eternal ruin of all her enemies.
