1 God's judgment upon leviathan; 2 his care over his vineyard; 7 his chastisements are in measure, and with a view to reformation. 10 Desolation threatened for want of knowledge. 12 The restoration of the dispersed.
IN athat day the LORD with his *sore and great and strong sword shall punish b*leviathan the 1piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay cthe *dragon that is din the sea.
I the LORD hdo keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
iFury is not in me: who would set jthe briers and thorns against me in battle? I would 2go through them, I would burn them together.
¶Hath he smitten him, 3as he smote those that smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?
pBy this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when qhe maketh all the stones of the altar as *chalkstones that are beaten in *sunder, the groves and 6images shall not stand up.
When tthe boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: uthe women come, and set them on fire: for it is va people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and whe that formed them will shew them no favour.
And it shall come to pass cin that day, that the dgreat trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were eready to perish in the land of Assyria, and fthe outcasts gin the land of Egypt, and hshall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
