Psalm 86 ©

1 David imploreth God's aid because of his need and religious faith; 5 and of the power and goodness of God: 11 he prayeth for grace, and promiseth praise for past mercies: 14 complaining of the proud, he craveth some token of God's favour.

A Prayer 1of David.

1

BOW adown thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for bI am poor and needy.

2

cPreserve my soul; for I am 2holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that dtrusteth in thee.

3

Be merciful unto me, O Lord: efor I cry unto thee 3daily.

4

fRejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do gI lift up my soul.

5

For hthou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

6

iGive ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.

7

In jthe day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

8

Among kthe gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.

9

lAll nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.

10

For mthou art great, and doest wondrous things: nthou art God alone.

11

oTeach me thy way, O LORD; pI will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

12

I qwill praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

13

For rgreat is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast sdelivered my soul from the 4lowest hell.

14

O God, the tproud are risen against me, and the assemblies of 5violent men have sought after my soul; and uhave not set thee before them.

15

But vthou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

16

O wturn unto me, and have mercy upon me; xgive thy strength unto ythy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.

17

Shew me za token for good; athat they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, bhast *holpen me, and comforted me.
