Zechariah 9 ©

1Amidst the judgments of the neighbouring nations God will defend his church. 9Zion is exhorted to rejoice for the coming of Christ and his peaceable kingdom. 12God's promises of victory and defence.

THE aburden of the word of the LORD bin the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: cwhen the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD.

And dHamath also shall border thereby; eTyrus, and fZidon, though it be gvery wise.

And Tyrus did build herself ha strong hold, iand heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.

jBehold, the Lord will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.

kAshkelon shall see it, and fear; lGaza also shall see it, and be mvery sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.

And na bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and oI will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

And pI will take away his 1blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but qhe that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as ra Jebusite.

And sI will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of thim that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and uno oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now vhave I seen with mine eyes.

wRejoice greatly, O xdaughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, ythy King cometh unto thee: zhe is just, and 2having salvation; lowly, and ariding upon an ass, band upon a colt the foal of an ass.

And cI will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and dhe shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

As for thee also, 3by the blood of thy covenant eI have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

fTurn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render gdouble unto thee;

When hI have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against ithy sons, O Greece, and jmade thee as the sword of a mighty man.

And kthe LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and lthe Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.

The LORD of hosts shall mdefend them; and they nshall devour, and 4subdue with sling stones; and they oshall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they 5shall be filled like pbowls, and as the qcorners of the altar.

And the rLORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be sas the stones of a crown, lifted up tas an *ensign upon his land.

For uhow great is his goodness, and vhow great is his beauty! wcorn shall make the young men 6cheerful, and new wine the maids.
