Psalm 23 ©

David represents in his own person, as in a mirror, the happiness, or blessed condition of a true child of God, both temporal and spiritual under the sweet guidance and pastoral care, and providence of his gracious God, in and through the chief Shepherd of the souls, our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST.

A Psalm of David.

1

Thea LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2

He maketh me 1to lie down in 2green pastures: he 3leadeth me beside the 4still waters.

3

He 5restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the 6paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Yea,b though I walk through the valley of the 7shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art 8with me; thy rod and thy 9staff they comfort me.

5

Thou preparest a 10table before me 11in the presence of mine enemies: thou 12anointest my head with 13oil; my 14cup runneth over.

6

Surely goodness and 15mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will 16dwell in the house of the LORD 17for ever.
