Isaiah 55 ©

Christ invites all wounded and dejected spirits to the enjoyment of His benefits and favors, v. 1. God the Father declares for what end and purpose He sent Christ, 4. Namely, to call the Gentiles, 5. What the duty is of all converts, 6. God promises that He will give them His grace and blessing in a plentiful manner, 10. To the joy and rejoicing of all creatures, 12.

1

HO,12everya one that thirsteth, 3come ye to the waters, and he 4that hath no money; come ye, buy, and 5eat; yea, 6come, buy 7wine and milk without money and without price.

2

8Wherefore do ye spend money 9for that which is not bread? and 10your labour 11for that which satisfieth not? 12hearken diligently unto me, and 13eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

3

14Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and 15your soul shall live; and I will 16make an everlasting covenant with you, 17evenb the sure mercies 18of David.

4

Behold, 19I have given 20him 21for a witness to the people, a leader and 22commander to the people.

5

Behold, 23thou shalt call a nation 24that thou knowest not, and 25nations that knew not thee 26shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and 27for the Holy One of Israel; 28for he hath glorified thee.

6

¶Seek ye the LORD 29while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the 30unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly 31pardon.

8

32For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9

For 33as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh 34it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11

So shall 35my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall 36not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall 37prosper 38in the thing whereto I sent it.

12

For ye shall 39go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: 40the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and allc the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

13

41Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and 42it shall be to the LORD for a name, for 43an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
