1 Thessalonians 5 ©
1 The apostle proceedeth to shew that Christ's coming will be sudden, exhorting Christians to watch and be sober, so as not to be taken by surprise. 12 He beseecheth them to respect their spiritual guides; 14 and giveth various other precepts; 23 concluding with a prayer and salutations.
For yourselves know perfectly that bthe day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
lWho died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
mWherefore 1comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
And oto esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And pbe at peace among yourselves.
yQuench not the Spirit.
And the very dGod of peace esanctify you wholly; and I pray God fyour whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless gunto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
jGreet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
I 4charge you by the Lord kthat this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
lThe grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
