JOHN THE DIVINE*
Revelation 22 ©
1 The apostle is further shown a river of the water of life, on which bank was planted the tree of life. 3 Some other properties of the inhabitants of the New Jerusalem are described. 6 After which the conclusion is made, with a declaration of the truth and certainty of these visions and prophesies. 8 John falls down again before the angel’s feet, and is reproved for it the second time. 10 After which he receives a charge, that he shall not seal the words of this book, though some will misuse them to their sorer punishment. 13 Christ declares that He is the Alpha and Omega, and pronounces them blessed who keep His commandment, and unholy who commit abominations. 16 And testifies that He has sent His angel to reveal these things unto His church. 17 The Bride of Christ longs for His coming. 18 After which this revelation is shut up, with a threatening against those who would add anything unto, or take away ought from these things. 20 Christ testifies again that He will come quickly, and John closes all with an apostolic salutation.
AND he shewed me 1aa pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding 2out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the midst of the 3street of it, and 4on either side of the river, was there 5theb tree of life, which bare 6twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and 7the leaves of the tree were for the healing 8of the nations.
And there shall be 9no more curse: but 10the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and 11his servants 12shall serve him:
And they shall see 13his face; and 14hisc name shall be in their foreheads.
Andd15there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and 16they shall reign 17for ever and ever.
18And he said unto me, 19Thesee sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord 20God of the holy prophets sent 21his angel tof shew unto his servants the things which must 22shortly be done.
Behold, 23I come quickly: blessedgis he that 24keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
And 25I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I 26fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Then saith he unto me, Seehthou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
And he saith unto me, 27Seali not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for thej time is at hand.
28He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, 29let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
And, behold, 30I come quickly; and my reward is with me, tok give every man 31according as his work shall be.
Il am 32Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, them first and the last.
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have 33right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates 34into the city.
Forn35without are 36dogs, and 37sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and 38whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Io Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto 39you these things in the churches. Ip am 40the root and the offspring of David, and 41theq bright and morning star.
And 42the Spirit and 43the bride say, Come. And let him 44that heareth say, Come. 45Andr let him that is athirst come. And 46whosoever will, 47let him take the water of life 48freely.
49For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Ands if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away 50his part out of thet book of life, and 51out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
52He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. 53Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
54The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. 55Amen.
