1

HEAR this word, ye a*kine of Bashan, that are in the bmountain of Samaria, which coppress the poor, which crush the needy, which dsay to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

d Joel 3.3. ch. 2.6.
2

The Lord GOD ehath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he fwill take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

3

And ye shall go out gat the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall 1cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.

4

hCome to Beth-el, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and ibring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after 2three years:

5

And 3offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving jwith *leaven, and kproclaim and publish lthe free offerings: for 4this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

6

¶And I also have given you mcleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: nyet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

7

And also oI have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and pI caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

8

qSo two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; rbut they were not satisfied: syet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

s v.6,9-11. Le. 26.18,21,23,27.
9

tI have smitten you with *blasting and mildew: 5when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, uthe *palmerworm devoured them: vyet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

v Je. 5.3.
10

wI have sent among you the pestilence 6after the manner of Egypt: xyour young men have I slain with the sword, 7and have taken away your horses; and yI have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

11

I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew zSodom and Gomorrah, and ye were aas a firebrand plucked out of the burning: byet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

b v.6,8-10. Is. 26.10,11. Je. 5.3. Is. 1.5. 2Ch. 28.22. Re. 2.21; 9.20.
12

Therefore cthus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, dprepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

13

For, lo, ehe that formeth the mountains, and createth the 8wind, and fdeclareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning gdarkness, and htreadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The iGod of hosts, is his name.
