Joshua 11 ©

1 Various other kings assemble against Israel by the waters of Merom. 6 God encourageth Joshua, who smiteth them. 10 Hazor is taken and burned; and the cities of the other kings are taken and spoiled. 16 All the country taken by Joshua. 21 The Anakims are cut off. 23 The land being subdued resteth from war.

AND it came to pass, when aJabin king of bHazor had heard those things, that he csent to Jobab king of dMadon, and to the king of eShimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

a Ju. 4.2.

And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of fChinneroth, and in the valley, and in gthe borders of Dor on the west,

And to hthe Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and ithe Jebusite in the mountains, and to jthe Hivite under kHermon in the land of lMizpeh.

j Ju. 3.3.

And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the msand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

And when all these kings nwere 1met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

¶And the LORD said unto Joshua, oBe not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou pshalt *hough their horses, and burn qtheir chariots with fire.

So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of rMerom suddenly; and they fell upon them.

And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them sunto 2great Zidon, and unto 3Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

And Joshua did unto them as the LORD *bade him: he t*houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

¶And Joshua at that time turned back, and took uHazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them : there was not 4any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

And vall the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, was Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.

But as for the cities that stood still 5in their strength, Israel burned none of them, *save xHazor only; that did Joshua burn.

x v.1,10,11.

And all ythe spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a *prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

¶As zthe LORD commanded Moses his servant, so adid Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; 6he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

a De. 7.2.

So Joshua took ball that land, cthe hills, and all the south country, and all the land of dGoshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the emountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

Even from 7the mount Halak, that goeth up to fSeir, even unto gBaal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

Joshua made war ha long time with all those kings.

There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, *save ithe Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.

For it was of the LORD jto harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, kas the LORD commanded Moses.

¶And at that time came Joshua, and cut loff the Anakims from the mountains, from mHebron, from nDebir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: oJoshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only pin Gaza, in Gath, and in qAshdod, there remained.

So Joshua took the whole land, raccording to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and sJoshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel taccording to their divisions by their tribes. And the land urested from war.

s ch. 14.1-19.51.
