David prays for the preservation of him and the church from the general malice, unfaithfulness, falsehood, deception, insolence and tyranny, which were practiced by the rulers; and prophesies that God would surely judge them and save the godly according to the faithful promises of His Word.

HELP,3 LORD; for thea4godly man ceaseth; for the 5faithful fail from among the 6children of men.

They speak 7vanity 8every one with his neighbour: with 9flattering lips and with a 10double heart do they speak.

The LORD shall 11cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our 12own: who is lord over us?

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that 13puffeth at him.

Theb14words of the LORD are 15pure words: as 16silver 17tried in a furnace of earth, 18purified 19seven times.

Thou 20shalt keep them, O LORD, thou 21shalt preserve them from this 22generation for ever.

The wicked walk 23on every side, 24when the 25vilest men are exalted.
