Malachi 4 ©

A prophecy of the destruction of the wicked, v. 1. But the godly are comforted with the appearance of the Sun of righteousness, 2. Therefore the Lord exhorts all the people to true repentance and conversion, and to the observing of the law given them by Moses, 4. He speaks again of the sending of John the Baptist, and of the efficacy of his preaching.

1

FOR,1 behold, 2the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble:a and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, 3that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

2

¶But unto you that fear my name shall 4the Sun of righteousness arise with 5healing in 6his wings; and ye shall 7go forth, and 8grow up as calves of the stall.

3

And ye shall 9tread down the wicked; for they shall be 10ashes under 11the soles of your feet 12in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

4

13Rememberb ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him 14in Horeb 15for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

5

¶Behold, I will send you 16Elijah the prophet before the coming of the 17great and 18dreadful day of the LORD:

6

19And he shall 20turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite 21the earth 22with a curse.
