1 Christ teacheth to avoid giving occasions of offence: 3 and to forgive one another. 5 The power of faith, and defect of merit toward God in our best services. 11 Christ healeth ten lepers: 20 sheweth the spiritual nature of the kingdom of God; 22 and instructeth his disciples concerning the coming of the Son of man.

THEN said he unto the disciples, aIt is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him iby and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to *meat?

Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I *trow not.

So likewise ye, kwhen ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

¶And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, awhen the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not 1with observation:

But ifirst must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
