In this psalm (being a compendium of the entire Gospel) David speaks of the calling of Jesus Christ to the spiritual Kingdom of His church and His everlasting Priesthood; representing likewise the mighty conquest over His enemies and His triumph over them.

The 1LORD 2said 3unto my Lord, 4Sit thou at my right hand, 5until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

6The LORD shall 7send 8the rod of 9thy strength 10out of Zion: 11rule thou in the midst 12of thine enemies.

13Thy people shall be willing 14in the day of thy power, 15in the beauties of holiness 16from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

The 17LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, 18Thou art a 19priest for evera20after the order of Melchizedek.

21The Lord at thy right hand 22shall 23strike through 24kings 25in the day of his wrath.

26He shall judge among the heathen, heb shall 27fill the places with the dead bodies; 28he shall wound the heads over many countries.

29He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall 30he lift up the head.
