THE EPISTLE OF THE
APOSTLE PAUL
TO
TITUS
Titus 2 ©
1 The apostle exhorts Titus to hold forth rightly the sound doctrine, and to instruct. 2 The elderly men. 3 And elderly women. 4 And withal by them the young women.6 And young men, how they ought to carry themselves, and to exhort them thereunto, thus by words. 7 And also by his own example, in conduct and in doctrine. 9 Afterward also believing servants, how they should carry themselves. 11 And adjoins reasons, which ought to move everyone to godliness, and to all Christian virtues, taken both from the end wherefore God has revealed His Gospel unto us. 13 And from the hope of reward at the coming of Christ. 14 And from the greatness, fruit and end of the benefits of Christ bestowed upon us. 15 Willing, that he would earnestly press and inculcate this.
BUT speak 1thou the things which become 2sound doctrine:
That the aged men be sober, 3grave, 4temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
The aged women likewise, thatathey be 5in behaviour as becometh holiness, not falseb accusers, 6not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
That 7they may teach the young women to be 8sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be 9discreet, chaste, 10keepers at home, 11good, obedientc to their own husbands, that the word of God 12be not blasphemed.
Young men likewise exhort to be 13sober minded.
Ind all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: 14in doctrine shewing 15uncorruptness, 16gravity, sincerity,
Sound 17speech, that cannot be 18condemned; thate he 19that is of the contrary part may be 20ashamed, having no evil thing 21to say 22of you.
Exhortf servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well 23in all things; not 24answering again;
Not 25purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they 26may adorn 27the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
28For 29the grace of God that bringeth salvation 30hath appeared to 31all men,
Teaching us that,g32denying ungodlinessh and 33worldly lusts, we should live 34soberly, 35righteously, and 36godly, in this present 37world;
Lookingi for 38that blessed hope, and the 39glorious 40appearing 41of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Whoj42gave himself for us, 43that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and 44purify unto himself 45a peculiar people, zealousk of good works.
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all 46authority. Letl no man despise thee.
