Psalm 2 ©
A prophecy concerning the kingdom of the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ; together with an earnest charge and summons to all the kings and rulers of the earth for submitting themselves unto this King with all obedience.
WHYa do the 1heathen 2rage, and the people imagine a 3vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the 4rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his 5anointed, saying,
Let us 6break 7their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that 8sitteth in the heavens shall 9laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
10Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore 11displeasure.
12Yet have I 13set my king upon my holy 14hill of Zion.
15I will declare 16the 17decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thoubart my Son; 18this day have I begotten thee.
19Ask of me, andc I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the 20uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Thoud shalt break them with a 21rod of iron; thou shalt dash them 22in pieces like a 23potter’s vessel.
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: 24be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with 25fear, and 26rejoice with trembling.
27Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the 28way, when his wrath is kindled but 29a little. Blessedeare all they that put their trust in him.
