THE
REVELATION
OF
JOHN THE DIVINE*
Revelation 7 ©
1 John sees four angels, to whom power was given to hurt the earth by the cessation of the winds. 2 And another angel, having the seal of God, who hinders them from doing it, till all the servants of God are marked. 4 Whose number is an hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of Israel. 9 After that he sees an innumerable multitude of all nations standing before the throne and before the Lamb. 10 Who sing praise unto God and to the Lamb. 11 Whom all the angels and the four beasts and the twenty-four elders do follow with a like song of praise. 13 John is informed by one of the twenty-four elders, whom they are who appeared in white robes. 15 And whereof their blessedness consists.
AND 1after these things I saw 2four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow 3on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
And 4I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
Saying, 5Hurta not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we 6have sealed 7the servants of our God 8inb their foreheads.
And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundredcand forty and four thousand 9of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. 10Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. 11Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
12After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and 13tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and 14palms in their hands;
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation 15to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne 16on their faces, and worshipped God,
Saying, Amen: 17Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, 18be unto our God 19for ever and ever. Amen.
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are 20these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
And I said unto him, 21Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of 22great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them 23white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore are they 24before the throne of God, and 25serve him day and night 26in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall 27dwell among them.
They shall 28hungerd no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall thee sun light on them, nor any heat.
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feedf them, and shall lead them unto 29living fountains of waters: and God shall 30wipeg away all tears from their eyes.
