Psalm 97 ©
A description of the majesty of God’s Kingdom, and the joy of the godly, by reason of His justice and judgments upon the idolaters; together with an exhortation unto piety and spiritual cheerfulness.
The LORDa1reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of 2isles be glad thereof.
3Clouds and darkness are 4round about him: 5righteousness and judgment are the 6habitation of his throne.
7A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
Hisb lightnings enlightened the world: thec earth 8saw, and 9trembled.
The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
Thed10heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
Confounded be all they that serve 11graven images, that boast themselves of 12idols: worship him, 13all ye gods.
14Zion 15heard, and was glad; and 16the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.
For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all 17gods.
Ye that love the LORD, hatee evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
18Light is 19sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks 20at the remembrance of his holiness.
