Psalm 45 ©
An excellent prophetical Epithalamium or wedding-song, at the occasion of Solomon’s marriage with Pharaoh’s daughter, poetically written for the spiritual marriage of the bridegroom Jesus Christ with His dear spouse, the catholic church of Jews and Gentiles.
To the chief 1Musician upon 2Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, 3Maschil, 4A Song of loves.
MY heart is 5inditinga6a good matter: I speak of the 7things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the 8pen of a ready writer.
Thou art fairer than the 9children of men: 10grace is poured into thy lips: 11therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and 12thy majesty.
And in thy majesty 13ride prosperously 14because of 15truth and 16meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee 17terrible things.
Thine 18arrows are sharp 19in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
Thyb throne, O 20God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a 21right sceptre.
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: 22therefore God, 23thy God, hath anointed thee with the 24oil of gladness above thy 25fellows.
All thy garments 26smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the 27ivory 28palaces, 29whereby they have made thee glad.
Kings' daughters were among thy 30honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the 31queen in gold of 32Ophir.
Hearken, 33O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; 34forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;
So shall the king greatly desire thy 35beauty: for he is thy Lord; and 36worship thou him.
And the 37daughter of 38Tyre shall be there withc a gift; even the rich among the people shall 39intreat thy favour.
The king's daughter is all glorious 40within: her clothing is of 41wrought gold.
She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.
42With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.
Instead of 43thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make 44princes in all the earth.
I will make thy name to be remembered 45in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
