Psalm 142 ©
David, being fled before Saul and hid in a cave, his spirit overwhelmed, he cries unto the Lord for help.
Maschil1 of David; A Prayer 2when he was in the cave.
I CRIED unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.
I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
Whena my spirit was 3overwhelmed within me, then 4thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have 5they 6privily laid a snare for me.
I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man 7that would know me: 8refuge failed me; no man 9cared 10for my soul.
I cried 11unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and 12my portionb in the land of the living.
Attend unto my cry; for I am 13brought very low: deliverc me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
Bring 14my soul 15out of prison, that I may praise thy name: 16the righteous shall compass 17me about; 18for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
