Psalm 114 ©
The psalmist, recounting the deliverance of the Israelites out of Egypt, exhorts all creatures to praise God, and all men to follow their example.
WHEN 1Israela went out of Egypt, 2the house of Jacob from a people of 3strange language;
4Judah was 5his sanctuary, and 6Israel 7his dominion.
The 8sea saw it, and fled: 9Jordan was driven back.
The 10mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills 11like lambs.
What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou 12Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
13Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, 14like lambs?
15Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
16Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
