¶ACCORDING TO
^ MATTHEW
Matthew 28 ©
1 The women come to Christ’s grave. 2 And by an angel, who had rolled away the stone, they are informed of His resurrection. 7 And go to tell the same to the disciples. 9 Christ meets them by the way. 11 The guards bring the same tidings to the chief priests, but suffer themselves to be corrupted with money, saying, that He was stolen out of the grave. 16 Christ manifests Himself to His disciples in Galilee. 19 And gives them charge to preach and baptize among all nations. 20 And promises them His assistance.
INa the 1end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward 2the first day 3of the week, came 4Mary Magdalene and the other Mary 5to see the sepulchre.
And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord 6descended from heaven, and came and 7rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
His 8countenance was like lightning, and his raimentb white as snow:
And for fear of him the keepers did 9shake, and became as dead men.
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: forc I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, 10as he said.d Come, see the place where the 11Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; theree shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
Andf they departed quickly from the sepulchre with 12fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
¶And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesusg met them, saying, All hail. And they came and 13held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my 14brethren that they go into 15Galilee, and thereh shall they see me.
¶Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things 16that were done.
And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave 17large money unto the soldiers,
Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
And if this come to the governor's ears, we will 18persuade him, and securei you.
So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and 19this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
¶Then the 20eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain wherej Jesus had 21appointed them.
And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some 22doubted.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All 23power is given unto mek in heaven and in earth.
¶Gol ye therefore, and 24teach all nations, baptizing them 25in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and,m lo, I am 26with you alway, even unto the end of the world. 27Amen.
