Psalm 100

An exhortation to serve God joyfully as our creator and preserver, and to praise him for his goodness, mercy, and truth.

0 A1 Psalm of praise.

1 This title stands before no other but this Psalm only. Some are of the opinion that it was used to be sung at the thanksgiving offering; whereof Lev. 7:12.

1MAKE a joyful noise unto the 2LORD, 3all ye lands.

2 That is, to the honor of God.

3 That is, all the inhabitants of the earth. Yet only understand by them the faithful children of God.

2Serve the LORD with gladness: come before 4his presence with singing.

4 Namely, of God, Who manifests His presence above the ark.

3Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that 5hath made us, 6and not we ourselves; we are his people, anda the sheep of his pasture.

5 Understand likewise, that He has created us anew in Christ Jesus to good works, that we should walk in them, Eph. 2:10.

6 Other, and his we are. The Hebrew text is diversely read.

a Psalm 95:7; Exek. 34:30, 31.

4Enter 7into his gates with 8thanksgiving, and into 9his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

7 Namely, the gates of His temple.

8 Thus the thanksgiving are called thank offerings, 2 Chron. 29:31; Jer. 17:26.

9 Understand the courts of the temple. See the annotation 1 Kings 6 on verse 36.

5For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his 10truth endureth to all generations.

10 Or, faithfulness, namely, in the performance of His promises.
