Joshua 12

1The two kings whose countries Moses took and disposed of. 7The one and thirty kings on the west side of Jordan which Joshua smote.

1NOW these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

2Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the 1bank of the river Arnon, anda from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

3And from the plain to the sea of 2Chinneroth on the east, and unto 3the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to 4Beth-jeshimoth; and from the south, under 5Ashdoth-pisgah:

5And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the 7Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

7 These dwelt in the land of Bashan at the uttermost borders of the same land, which 2 Sam. 15:8 is called by Absalom, Geshur in Syria, because it was situated about the city and land of Damascus. Geshur was a royal city. The daughter of Talmai king of Geshur was David’s wife, and mother of Absalom, 2 Sam. 3:3, unto whom Absalom fled after he had slain his brother Ammon, 2 Sam. 13:37. The land of the Geshurites fell indeed by lot unto the half tribe of Manasseh, but they did not expel the inhabitants thereof, Joshua 13:13.

6Them did Moses the servant of the LORD and the children of Israel smite: andc Moses the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

c Num. 21:24; 32:33.

7¶And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote ond this side Jordan on the west, from Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the 8mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession 9according to their divisions;
