Matthew 16

1The Pharisees require a sign. 5Jesus warneth his disciples against the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees, and explaineth his meaning. 13people's opinion, and Peter's confession, of Christ. 21Jesus foreshoweth his own death, and rebuketh Peter for dissuading him from it. 24He showeth that his followers must deny themselves in prospect of a future reward.

2He answered and said unto them, cWhen it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

6¶Then Jesus said unto them, gTake heed and beware of the *leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

21¶From that time forth began Jesus cto shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and dbe raised again the third day.

22Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, 1Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
