John 13

1Jesus washeth his disciples' feet, and exhorteth them to follow his example of humility and charity: 18he foretelleth the treachery of Judas, and pointeth him out to John by a token: 31he speaketh of his glorification as near at hand, and commandeth his disciples to love one another: 36he forewarneth Peter that he shall thrice deny him.


1NOW abefore the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that bhis hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, chaving loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

2And dsupper being ended, ethe devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son , to betray him;

3Jesus knowing that fthe Father had given all things into his hands, and that ghe was come from God, and went to God;

4He hriseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and *girded himself.

6Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and 1Peter saith unto him, Lord, jdost thou wash my feet?

24Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

25He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

26Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a 3sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, ihe gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

36¶Simon Peter said unto him, uLord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; vbut thou shalt follow me afterwards.

37Peter said unto him, Lord, wwhy cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

38Jesus answered him, xWilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? *Verily, verily, I say unto thee, yThe cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me zthrice.
