a 2Ki. 25.1,2. ch. 52.4,5; 37.5,11; 39.1,2. b 2Ki. 25.8.

2For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: cand Jeremiah the prophet was shut up din the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.

c ch. 33.1; 37.21; 39.13,14. Mat. 5.12; 21.35; 23.34,37. d Ne. 3.25. Not as ch. 37.16; 38.6, but as v.8.

3For eZedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, fWherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, gBehold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

e 2Ki. 6.31,33. 2Ch. 28.22. Is. 1.5. ch. 5.3. f Ex. 5.4. ch. 36.29; 38.4; 26.9. g ch. 21.10; 34.2,22; 37.8; 38.3. v.28,29.

4And hZedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

5And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until iI visit him, saith the LORD: jthough ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

6¶And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

7Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in kAnathoth: for lthe right of redemption is thine to buy it.

8So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in mthe court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. nThen I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
