Isaiah 22

1The prophet lamenteth the invasion of Jewry; 8he reproveth their trust in human means, and not in God; and their desperate rioting, when the times called for humiliation. 15He prophesieth the downfall of Shebna, 20and Eliakim's advancement in his room.


1THE aburden of bthe valley of vision. cWhat aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

15¶Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto zShebna, which is over the house, and say ,

16What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast a*hewed thee out a sepulchre here, 6as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?
