Isaiah 17

1Syria and Israel are threatened. 6A remnant of Israel shall forsake idolatry. 9The desolation of the rest. 12The rebuke of the enemies of Israel.


1THE aburden of Damascus. bBehold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

10pBecause thou hast forgotten qthe God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of rthe rock of thy strength, stherefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with *strange *slips:

11In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: tbut the harvest shall be 2a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
